Weekend in the Andes
After “week 1″, with long and intensive work hours, we decided to spend our weekend in the Andes to refuel ourselves. Peter found a great spot: “Cascada de las Animas” (Waterfall of the spirits) in Cajon del Maipe, San Alfonso. Sounds good? Well I had no idea, but gave it a try and so we started Saturday morning a 3 hours drive to get there.
Upon arrival, I was just impressed. What a landscape, the weather was even better one can think of, snow at the peaks of the mountains,… it was just one single beauty.
Next step: Our rooms. We reserved some lodges, I knew that. But I was not expecting this… Each one had “his own” “eco lodge” (built eco friendly), no one looked like the other one, very individual and it looked just like in one of those mystery tales films. Janice was even associating the Oompa Loompa’s with them (you know… the chocolate factory…).
Once arrived, we went for a hike. I wont overload this blog with pictures (although I could…;-)), but just have a look to the Lizard, so you can imagine there were lots of things to discover.
Back at our lodges, Andy and I had a walk to the (very) small neighbourhood, where I found these signs. Kuchenes!!! “Kuchen”, the German word for cakes, is often used in Chile. But this plural was new to me. I’ll love “Kuchenes” much more in future
I enjoyed the starry sky at the night. My lodge had a bulls-eye right at the top of my bed. Next morning the team went to a rafting tour, which I unfortunately could not join, since I got a cold the day before and decided to take a break.
In the afternoon we went back to Valparaíso, where we arrived late in the afternoon on Sunday. Well recovered and full of new thoughts, impressions and ideas to head into week 2 of our #smartercities challenge.
Looking back, it was a fantastic weekend with the team “Smart in Paradise” and now back to work. Week 2 has already started… Bye for now and stay tuned!
